Greek Dance Classes at The National Hellenic Museum

Greek Dance Classes at The National Hellenic Museum
Every Thursday

Would you like to learn Greek dancing while having plenty of fun? Join the National Hellenic Museum in Chicago on Thursday nights and learn traditional and celebrational Greek dances!

Greek dance classes will be held on Thursdays from 6:15pm-6:45pm through May 2019.

All classes cover the basic Pan-Hellenic dances: Kalamatiano, Xasaposerviko, and Tsamiko at the beginning of the session. Classes are offered for students ages 15 and up on Thursdays during the school year from 7-8pm. Drop-in students of all dance abilities are welcome, but registration is preferred.

BEGINNER dance classes for adults are offered on Thursdays from 6:15-6:45PM. Classes at this level will run at a slower pace and focus on traditional Greek dances that you would typically see at weddings, baptisms, and other social events. This is a good way to increase your comfort with Greek dance, in a welcoming and fun setting. You don’t have to speak Greek to enjoy dancing!

INTERMEDIATE/advanced dance classes for adults are offered on Thursdays from 6:45-7:15 PM. Classes at this level will include a wide array of dances from the mainland, Greek islands, Cyprus and many more!

If you would like to schedule private Greek dance lessons for you or your group, please contact Dimitra Georgouses, Education and Public Programs Manager, at dgeorgouses@hellenicmuseum.org or call (312) 655-1234, ext. 29.

NHM Dance Classes are $10 each class for non-members, $8 each for Museum Members. Payment may be taken over the phone or at the door.

Dance memberships are available for a full year of weekly dance classes: $250 for nonmembers, $225 for NHM members.
