People, fun, and great food at Taste of Greektown in Chicago 2016-2018

Every summer in August, Chicagoans know where to go for the city's biggest celebration of authentic Greek food, culture, music, fun and more.

The annual Taste of Greektown is a proud and massive display of Grecian and Mediterranean delights that takes place on Halsted Street between Madison and Van Buren.

Thousands of eager visitors come to eat, mingle and dance while they peruse the restaurant booths set up on both sides of Halsted.

Available food items include roasted lamb, gyros, dolmades, spanakopita (spinach pie), souvlaki, loukaniko (greek sausage), fresh seafood and more. Greek pastries included loukoumades, baklava, kourambiedes and other sweet treats.

In addition to the great food, guests also enjoy Greek music, dancing, games for the entire family and even a stellar performance by the Jesse White Tumblers. Live entertainment is provided by guest musicians including Hellas 2000, Linardakis Band, The Panopoulos Orchestra and others. Dance performances feature the Orpheus Dance Troop. Devanco Foods also hosts the popular Gyros eating contest.
